Getting ready for Summer 2011

We had our first workout of the new year on Saturday, January 8th at Hoover Central. Started out as a cool day, but it warmed up nicely -- and from the looks of the weather, it might have been the best day we'll get all month.

Over the past couple of months, we've picked up some really good players, and I like how we are coming together for the summer. Right now we're at nine players -- with our most pressing needs being another top-notch pitcher to fill out our pitching staff, and a second catcher who can play other some other positions as well. Might add a third player as well, if a player with the right fit of skills comes along.

This January will be busy -- we'll be working on our summer schedule; I'm attending a coaching clinic in Nashville the weekend of January 21-22, we'll get our off-season mental program going and I'd like to get at least one more workout in before school ball gets started. Lots to do, and really not much time to get things going.

Over the next couple of months, I'll also be doing a lot of recruiting looking for those two players we need to finish up our roster.
