Summer Team Information

White Lightning Blue 93 is based in Hoover, Alabama, near Birmingham.

I'm the head coach, and I've been involved in coaching fast pitch at the assistant coach or head coach level for the past 9 years. I've attended numerous coaching clinics, and have completed 3 classes of the eight- class National Fast Pitch Coaches Association Master Coach program. My daughter who is a freshman at John Carroll, is on the team.

We have three assistant coaches. New this year is Emilee Lewis, a former four-year pitcher at Samford who pitched over 100 games in college, and who played HS and travel ball in California. She'll be working with pitchers and catchers, plus working with all the girls on effort, attitude, mental approach to the game, etc.

My two other assistant coaches are Sam Romano and Tommy Zito -- both have been around fast pitch for 8-9 years as well, both as head coaches and assistant coaches. Their daughters are freshmen at Vestavia -- are both on the team.

In addition, we have three players from Spain Park HS, one from Oxford HS , another John Carroll HS player, one from Tuscaloosa County HS and one player who is home-schooled on our team.

That gives us 10 players, which is one short of our planned roster size. We need another catcher, as well as a couple of pickup players for a couple of tourneys this summer.

Our schedule for this summer is set, as follows:

We'll start practice the weekend of May 14-16 (except for the girls whose teams are at the state tourney)

We'll take the following M-Wed off due to exams, and then practice Thursday evening, May 21. Our first tourney begins the next day, the highly regarded Viper Memorial Day tourney (F/S/S) at Liberty Park.

The rest of our tourney schedule is also challenging:

Sunday, July 19th through Sunday, July 26th NSA A World Series, Chattanooga, TN

Right now, our tentative practice schedule is to practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 730P - 930P. We'll also have hitting on Wednesday nights, but that will be scheduled on more of an individual basis -- 45 minutes between 6P and 9P. Practice location right now is TBD, but it will be most likely be at Spain Park HS in Hoover.
